Wedding Guest Attire No-No's
Wedding guest dress codes tend to be more grey than black and white. Of course it’s common knowledge that the #1 rule is to never wear white, however there are other colors to avoid that are less widely known. No one wants to make a fashion faux pas at a wedding, so be prepared. Note these other colors to avoid wearing to the next wedding you attend:
Shades of white
Everyone knows wearing white should be avoided, but so should all shades within the white color family. think ivory, cream, beige and champagne, Any shade of white is too similar to the bride’s dress color, so should be avoided. If you’re still searching for a neutral, try universally flattering colors taupe, stone or pewter.Metallics
Always remember that, as wedding guest, you are there to celebrate the bride and groom and not draw attention on yourself. Look-at-me metallics make you stand out and, ultimately, shift attention away from the bride. Save your flashy metallic dress for New Year’s Eve, not the next wedding.Sequins
While sequins are festive, they are also attention-grabbing. Be mindful to not redirect focus to you and instead consider a silk dress in a floral print that harmonizes with your undertone and scale. Avoid floral prints that are too “loud”.Neon
Neons are the most conspicuous of all, and so it’s best to avoid them. For a power color, try true red or burgundy instead — both are strong pseudo-neutrals that still make a splash. Complete the look with a statement earring or necklace and save your neon for the next music concert.Denim
Denim should be avoided even at the most casual of weddings. Out of respect for the couple and their auspicious occasion, don’t think twice about leveling up from denim. Remember photos last forever and you don’t want to be remembered as “that” guest.
