Shopping Denim

With trends coming and going at fever pitch, sometimes it’s nice to invest in a quality pair of jeans that will stand the test of time. Knowing your body shape helps too, ensuring the big spend delivers on both longevity and flattery. Since jeans can be tricky to fit, pack your patience and find a good, honest sales person to support you through the try-on process. It can be tough! Here are suggestions for where to shop the best product at the best retailers this season:

  1. Ralph Lauren
Let’s start with the top of the line. If you’re looking to splurge, shop Japanese denim at Ralph Lauren for the absolute best of the best — superior construction, premium dyes, handmade distressing and timeless cuts. Japanese denim truly is an artisanal craft.

  2. Nordstrom
For the contemporary woman, Nordstrom has a top-notch curation of the best denim brands on the market. The array of labels is ideal for the customer in search of the right brand for her body shape. In my opinion the #1 denim brand is MOTHER and Nordstrom’s broad selection and deep inventory of the label is impressive. Oh that stretch! They are worth every penny. And don’t forget to try Nordstrom Rack for deals.

  3. Massimo Dutti
An off-shoot brand of Zara, Massimo Dutti is just as trend-forward but with higher quality materials and craftsmanship. Try for European-style cuts and an avant garde aesthetic. The price point is a bit more premium, but so is the value.

  4. Goop
Goop is an excellent resource for premium, quality denim. Their diverse selection is high-end, high-style and highly curated, plus their own label is manufactured in Italy with a quality and style to match. Their Kaplan jean is my fave.

  5. Levi’s
Not owning a pair of Levi’s is just plain un-American. Old or new, everyone should have one. Each season Levi’s does a great job at refreshing their classics plus, lucky for us, they make shopping vintage easy with online shop SecondHand. No wardrobe should ever be without a vintage pair of 501®’s! It doesn’t get more iconic than that.
